Darrel’s design approach and current work:

A journeyman cabinet maker by trade, Darrel’s passion for kitchen design goes far beyond door styles and finishes. When we spoke, he shared how important it is to understand things like building codes, HVAC placements, appliance specs, and architectural limitations—all of which can dramatically impact cabinetry design.

“Inexperienced makes it easy to miss small details that create big issues down the road,” he explained. “I try to think about how everything will function once it’s installed—and how it will affect the rest of the home.”

Darrel’s modest, grounded energy reflects the care he puts into each project—from single-family homes to his current work on Movala by Stober Group, a three-year, high-density development that includes over 60 unique layouts in the South Tower alone. He’s now focused on the North Tower and its custom penthouses.

His portfolio includes standout work on projects and housing developments including Sonoma Pines, Ellis Park, Riesling Way, Ariva, West Harbour, and The Conservatory.

Personal philosophy and background:

But for Darrel, the work isn’t just about cabinetry.

“It’s about the relationships,” he says. “That’s what stays with you—and that’s where integrity and transparency matter most.”

Originally from Coquitlam, Darrel spent 10 years in Northern Alberta, learning the cabinetry trade and completing his training at NAIT. After visiting Kelowna once on vacation, he decided it felt like home. Nearly three decades later, his designs continue to shape homes and communities across the region.
