Darrel Swift approaches every kitchen design with a pencil, graph paper, and more than 30 years of hands-on experience in the cabinetry and construction industry. A Senior Designer at Westwood Cabinetry since 1996, Darrel brings a deep understanding of how kitchens are built, not just how they look, ensuring every design is grounded in precision, practicality, and craftsmanship.
As a Journeyman Cabinetmaker, Darrel completed a four-year apprenticeship along with advanced technical training at the Alberta Institute of Technology. His background spans multiple aspects of construction, giving him the insight to guide clients confidently through layout decisions, material selection, and the technical details that make a space function seamlessly.
Darrel’s design process is collaborative and methodical. He enjoys helping clients visualize what’s possible and then translating those ideas into well-engineered designs that can be executed flawlessly. Seeing a client’s vision move from imagination to reality is what drives his passion for design.
In recent years, Darrel has been leading some of Westwood’s largest and most complex projects, applying his experience to large-scale, detail-intensive work. His ability to balance creativity with technical expertise makes him a trusted partner for both homeowners and builders alike.
Outside of work, Darrel embraces the Okanagan lifestyle. On sunny days, you’ll often find him cruising winding roads on his motorcycle or spending time on the lake with his family—recharging and finding inspiration in the landscape around him.
