With over 25 years of experience in the cabinetry industry, Mary Lou Hawke brings a depth of knowledge and practical expertise to every kitchen she designs. A Senior Designer at Westwood Cabinetry since 2010, Mary Lou is known for creative, well-considered layouts that are not only visually appealing, but highly functional for the people who use them every day.

Mary Lou’s design approach is rooted in understanding how a space needs to work. Drawing on her background in interior design, she guides clients through finish, material, and fixture selections that enhance both the look and performance of their kitchen. Her recommendations are always thoughtful and purposeful—balancing aesthetics with long-term usability.

A key strength in Mary Lou’s process is her hands-on involvement on site. She provides precise measuring, detailed construction information, and clear direction to trades, helping ensure that every element of the design comes together seamlessly. This attention to detail is especially valuable in both renovation projects and complex new builds, where accuracy and coordination are critical.

Throughout her career, Mary Lou has worked closely with many high-end builders and has shared in multiple Okanagan Housing Awards of Excellence (OHAE) wins, including projects with Operon Homes and Carrington Homes. These collaborations reflect her ability to work at a high level across design, construction, and execution. That balance of creativity, precision, and appreciation for place is reflected in the thoughtful spaces she creates for her clients.

On the advice of Craig Moher with Vineyard Development, we contacted Westwood Fine Cabinetry for our kitchen renovation. We were assigned to Mary Lou Hawke, one of the in-house kitchen designers at Westwood. She took on our project with great interest and commitment, met with us on numerous occasions at Westwood and at the house and devised a brilliant design that both complemented the house, but also created unique form and function in a rather large space. Her attention to detail, efficient time management and excellent communication skills made all the difference in our project management. She was so easy to work with and her warm personality made all the difference. Mary Lou pulled out all the stops and made the renovation happen on a very tight timeline. We were very impressed with her work and tenacity to get the job done to our complete satisfaction. The cabinets arrived properly packaged and in beautiful condition. The installer assigned to our project by Westwood was very professional, timely and dedicated to properly installing the Westwood product. He was a delight to have in our home and worked quickly with precision. Any small issues we had were quickly addressed by Mary Lou and final service inspections were done promptly as per schedule. The Westwood service and billing departments also provided excellent service. We are thrilled with our new Westwood kitchen and can’t say enough about the experience. Without hesitation, we highly recommend Westwood not only for the high quality product they produce, but the for staff and service that make kitchens happen. We are extremely happy with every aspect of our kitchen and thankful to Westwood and staff who made this possible.
