For Allison Braun, the kitchen is more than a place to cook, it’s where daily life is fueled. A space filled with familiar sounds, aromas, and connection. This belief sits at the core of her design approach and shapes how she creates kitchens that are both deeply functional and emotionally grounding.
Allison joined Westwood Cabinetry in the spring of 2022, beginning as a Design Assistant and growing into her role as Senior Designer. With over 16 years in the design industry, she brings a thoughtful blend of experience, creativity, and technical understanding to every project. She holds a Diploma in Interior Design from Vancouver Island University and has spent her career designing spaces that support how people truly live.
Her design style leans transitional with a slightly upscale contemporary touch, balancing clean lines with warmth and texture. Functionality is always front of mind—particularly organization, which Allison sees as the foundation of a successful kitchen. By carefully considering who the space needs to work for, she ensures each layout supports ease of movement, intuitive storage, and everyday routines.
In 2026, Allison’s work earned her first Gold Okanagan Housing Award of Excellence, recognizing her ability to deliver thoughtful, well-executed designs that balance aesthetics with real-life performance.
Allison draws inspiration from nature and from discovering new ideas through design exploration, always looking for fresh ways to elevate a space while keeping it timeless. She is currently drawn to natural tones and dark, moody palettes, and loves pairing a classic Kent door in Knoxville lacquer with Kelispell stain on Hickory for a rich, layered look.
Her favourite moment in the design process comes after installation is complete, returning to the home for the first site visit and seeing the client’s reaction. For Allison, that sense of satisfaction and joy is what makes the process meaningful.
Outside of work, Allison embraces the lifestyle that drew her to the Okanagan. When she’s not designing, you’ll likely find her enjoying the downtown boardwalk in the summer, soaking in the views and energy that continue to inspire her work.
